This image is taken from the cover of issue no. 252 of Przekrój, Poland’s oldest society and culture magazine. It was originally published on February 3, 1950.
Created on the occasion of the 25th Polish Ski Championships, this illustration again graced the front of the new quarterly version of Przekrój in 2019.
Its creator, Zbigniew Lengren, was a famous graphic artist, cartoonist, and author of caricatures, aphorisms, and epigrams, who worked with Przekrój weekly from almost the beginning. His series featuring Professor Filutek and his dog Filuś is one of the publication’s most recognizable symbols.
