Second Editorial Manager – “Przekrój” Magazine
Piotr’s main task is to assign work to writers, and subsequently to reward them for their hard work. He considers it to be a poetic and romantic occupation, since it’s a dream come true for so many authors. It’s also very useful, as motivating authors to challenge their own creativity leads to creating new issues of “Przekrój”.
While he deeply enjoys his role in the editorial team, Piotr never forgets his previous and current identities. Born in Kraków but now in love with Warsaw, Piotr is a home-bird who loves his wife, daughters, and pets. He’s also a jazz flautist, DIY enthusiast, manager, and writer. His long list of previous occupations includes, but is not limited to: tram driver, oriental researcher (he graduated from Iranian Studies at the Jagiellonian University in 1985), researcher of traditional Afghan weaponry and Central Asian musical instruments (the Asia and Pacific Museum), a jazzman, builder and manager of a campsite in the Masuria region, sound technician in the churches of Southern Poland, and director of a number of institutions – from the first EMPiK Megastore in the country, to the Wars & Sawa Department Stores, to a complex of three hotels in central Warsaw, and a hotel in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
He is the author of the novels Plamka światła [Spot of Light] and Dziewiętnaście tygodni [Nineteen Weeks – unpublished… so far]. He’s hopelessly in love with jazz and the music of the East (in 2008, he hosted a radio show Bukowina at the JazzRadio Station, which sadly no longer exists).
Piotr has been suffering from versatility syndrome since early childhood. He is, however, still harbouring a secret hope that here, at “Przekrój”, he will finally be blessed with nirvana.
